OK GO - 'WTF?'

Saw the last 5 minutes of OK Go at Playground Weekender but heard they weren’t all that. ‘WTF?’ is still a great tune though.

 

OK Go are famous for their videos and so it’s only appropriate that the video for ‘WTF?’ is mindbendingly watchable. Here is the youtube link in case you want to check it out:  . Just don’t blame me if you start to feel like someone’s spiked your morning coffee.

Her style is a great mix of ballady (that’s a word) pop songs and synthy (also a word) new wave.

I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all the loyal readers of this blog (thanks mum, keep reading) for the borderline abusive disregard and general ignorance with which I have treated these here pages in recent months. My last post was in May for gods sake! If this blog was a beautiful flower (and sometimes I think it could be just that but with some alright tunes blaring out of it of course) then it would have withered up and died a long time ago. Luckily, it’s just a blog and I haven’t killed anything... yet.

I could offer up excuses like I changed jobs, I went on holiday twice, I got engaged, all of which are true but excuses don’t excuse so I won’t bother. Actions speak louder than words and tunes speak even louder so get ready as I’ll be posting some belters here on a regular basis again.

I’m back! Consider this the relaunch of nevereverending.

La Roux - Bulletproof and Gossip - Heavy Cross

As it has been a while since the last post, here are two songs for the price of one.

The first, is another tune by that lady of the moment La Roux AKA Elly Jackson. This time (baby) it's 'Bulletproof', a bouncy slice of singalong pop which brings back memories of - shock horror - that famous Swedish pop trio Ulf Ekberg, Jonas Berggren and Jenny Berggren, otherwise known as Ace of Base.

Next up is 'Heavy Cross' by The Gossip. It's the latest single from their upcoming album Music For Men, due to drop in June. Enjoy!

The song is found on The Flying Club Cup album (2007) and I can't believe I've been running this blog for more than 6 months now and I haven't mentioned Nantes yet. How bloody rude!

 

This is up there in my top ten songs of all time. The hairs rise on the back of my neck whenever I hear it. Hopefully, you'll like it too.

Peter Sarstedt - Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?

It's 2009, also know as The Future.

So, this is possibly the perfect opportunity for me to go back in time to 1969 when Peter Sarstedt's song "Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?" was number one for six weeks in the UK charts.

Being born in the Eighties I wasn't around for this songs first outing and I luckily managed to skip it a second time when Right Said Fred covered it in 2006. However, I was well and truly captured when the original made another appearance via the soundtrack to the (brilliant) film The Darjeeling Limited. Here is a list from wiki to explain all the references:
